April Scholarships:

Oklahoma PTA Scholarship Application
Deadline: April 7, 2017
Oklahoma PTA is accepting applications for its 2016-2017 Scholarship Program. Scholarships have a minimum award value of five hundred dollars ($500) and may be worth more depending on the number of applicants. Applications are limited to seniors graduating from an Oklahoma High School that has an active PTA/PTSA unit. The unit must be in good standing with Oklahoma PTA for the application year. Applicants must be a member of their local high school PTA or PTSA or they can join All Oklahoma PTA if there is not a PTA or PTSA at their school. Proof of membership must be submitted with the application. Eligible applicants must attend an Oklahoma college or university. There is no restriction on field of study. Please note that scholarships will be sent directly to the awardee's school after enrollment is verified - checks will not be sent to individuals. Any applicant who has received more than ten thousand dollars ($10,000) in other combined scholarships or grants in an academic year is not eligible to apply. All information requested must be provided. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

College JumpStart Scholarship

The College JumpStart Scholarship is an annual, merit-based competition -- financial need is not considered -- that is open to 10th-12th graders, college students and non-traditional students. The main requirement is that you are committed to going to school and can express your goals for getting a higher education. The first place prize is a $1,000 scholarship to help cover educational expenses. This award can be used at any college or university in the United States.To apply for the College JumpStart Scholarship you must meet the following requirements: (1) High school 10th-12th grader, college student or non-traditional student; (2) U.S. citizen or legal resident; (3) Attend or plan to attend an accredited 2-year, 4-year or vocational / trade school in the U.S. (4) Be committed to using education to better your life and that of your family and/or community.

Diabetes Scholars Foundation

The Diabetes Scholars Foundation's college scholarship program is available to incoming freshmen with type 1 diabetes and who are US citizens or permanent residents seeking a higher education at an accredited four year university, college, technical or trade school. This scholarship recognizes students who have high academic performance, are actively involved in the diabetes community, participate in community and/or extra-curricular activities and who have demonstrated that they are successfully managing the challenges of living with diabetes. Gus Archie Scholarship Program

The Gus Archie Memorial Scholarship is a merit based scholarship supported by the SPE Foundation and awards an outstanding student who plans to enter a university and pursue an undergraduate degree in petroleum engineering. The student will receive $5,000 per year for up to four years of university study.

Jimmie L Dean Scholarship Foundation

The Jimmie L. Dean Scholarship Foundation, Inc. was established in 2008 from the generous gift of Jimmie L. Dean. The Foundation exists today to fulfill the virtues and honor the legacy of Jimmie by awarding scholarships to individuals who have grown up in Oklahoma that have and continue to exemplify the same beliefs of hard work, individual responsibility and education for attendance at an Oklahoma accredited College, University or Technical School. To be eligible for an award you must be an Oklahoma resident entering and attending an Oklahoma college, university or technical school from the list in the application form for the first time in the fall semester of 2017. Only students who attended an Oklahoma High School or were home schooled while living in Oklahoma will be considered residents by the Foundation. If you are not a graduating high school student in 2017 or a homeschooled student completing the high school requirements in 2017 you will not be considered for an award. Each Scholarship Award granted can be up to $10,000 per academic school year with the actual amount of each award determined by the Foundation

Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Inc.

The Oklahoma City Chapter of The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE OKC) is offering scholarships for graduating high-school seniors to be awarded for the 2016-2017 school year.  The scholarships are divided into two groups:  (1) Qualified, graduating high school seniors in SPE Oklahoma City Section's coverage area, pursuing a Petroleum Engineering Degree, or (2) The Son or Daughter of an SPE Member and enrolled in a math or science program. SPE has distributed these scholarships since 1998 and this program has been a huge success.  We need your help in finding talented young people. Successful candidates will exhibit superior communication skills and display ability in math and the sciences. The awards will be distributed when the recipient is registered and declared as a full time college freshman in an accredited university.

The American Legion Legacy Scholarship

Since the inception of The American Legion Legacy Scholarship in 2001 following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, The American Legion has offered its support to the children of fallen post-9/11 servicemembers through this scholarship. Beginning with the 2017 award year, The American Legion expanded the scholarship to include children of VA-rated, post-9/11 veterans with a combined disability of 50 percent or higher. Danny Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship

Selected applicants will be notified after September 1, 2017 and name will be displayed on NHCFAE's main page. The Danny Gutierrez Memorial Scholarship was developed to assist minorities and females studying electronic and engineering majors, who need financial assistance to attend college. Each year, 1 scholarship is awarded to 1 individual who is studying electronics or engineering. Danny was a friend and mentor to many of us, with a passion to help those in need. Especially those whose dream was to achieve higher education. BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Major field of study must be in Engineering/Technical (ONLY). Must be a US Citizen or a permanent resident residing in the United States or Puerto Rico. Applicants must be accepted or attending an accredited college, university, or vocational/trade school at the time the scholarship is awarded. IIAO Insurance Foundation - Marie Welch Scholarship

Up to three $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. To encourage either the beginning or continuation of a current course of higher education study. The funds are to be used for degree or certification studies only at an academically accredited institution in the United States. The SWE Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to women studying baccalaureate or graduate programs, in preparation for careers in engineering, engineering technology and computer science. The Jason C. Wagner Foundation Scholarship Application

The Jason C. Wagner Foundation was established in 2007 to honor the life and legacy of Jason Christopher Wagner.  Jason was a much-love father, husband, son and Oklahoma attorney who strongly valued education and all of its inherent attributes.  The Foundation's primary focus is to award college scholarships to graduating high school seniors in the state of Oklahoma who reside in the counties Jason represented in his legal practice. Scholarships are awarded to applicants who, in the Foundation's view, most exemplify the characteristics Jason had in life: integrity, intelligence and kindness. The Dr. Edith King Scholarship Fund was established in 2002 to honor the lifetime commitment and leadership of Dr. King to the field of mental health services in central Oklahoma. The program has specific scholarships for incoming freshmen and upper-level undergraduate students. All of the scholarships are based on financial needs and with the usual minimum GPA requirement of 3.0. To be eligible for a scholarship you must: (1) Submit a completed application form indicating a sincere interest in an automotive career. OCCC ACT NOW Scholarship

The ACT NOW scholarship is offered as an automatic merit-based tuition waiver program for the 2016 graduating class of high school students. The waiver amounts are based on the student's composite score on the national ACT. Students who score a 21 are eligible for a 3 hour credit tuition waiver. Scores of 22 - 23 receive a 6 hour credit tuition waiver, scores of 24-26 will receive a 9 hour credit tuition waiver, and scores of 27-30 will receive a 12 hour credit tuition waiver. Students with exceptional scores a 31 or higher will receive a 15 hour credit tuition waiver. All waivers are per semester; freshman year only.

Varsity Tutors holds a monthly $1,000 college scholarship contest where students must write an essay in response to a monthly prompt.
